Sponsor A Child Program

The children we support are from very disadvantaged families who cannot afford good quality education – in fact, they struggle to afford good nutrition! The children are provided with 2 healthy snacks and a nutritious cooked meal every day.

They are educated by qualified teachers who truly love children and are hand-picked by Nikki for their ability to provide a good balance between education and love. We strive to create an environment where childhood development goals can be met holistically. Not just academic education but life skills, trust, compassion, physical health and good, balanced nutrition. The mental and emotional growth and development of the children are equally important in an environment with huge socio-economic deficits.

As we celebrate our tenth year of providing a happy place of learning, we would like to reach a new goal of financial stability. One where we provide for the children without the stress of wondering where the next food money is coming from.

As a sponsor, you will have the opportunity of forming a special bond with your chosen child. We will send you a monthly update on your child’s progress, including pictures.

Your child will also (unless you choose to remain anonymous) receive a photograph (of your choice) of you, to take home. This will help to teach them that there is someone out there who really cares about them.

The sponsorship amount covers a budget for each child which covers the following expenses:

* The salary of their teacher (we strive to pay responsible, liveable wages in line with South African legislation) – many schools do not. We believe that a happy teacher is more likely to do a great job.

* A qualified Principal to lead the teachers and ensure the highest possible level of education for our children

* The food we provide for the children

* All stationery and resources used by the children

* All toiletries used by the children

* Proper and legal insurance for the school

* A well maintained and safe school

* A uniform for each child so their names and class is easily identifiable for volunteers, staff and for them to learn to recognise their names

* 4 school outings per year. These will vary per age group but will include trips to places that these children would otherwise not have the opportunity to visit – such as the Two Oceans Aquarium, The planetarium, The V&A Waterfront, Green point park, a ride on the Myciti bus, etc.

There are two options for sponsorship:

Sponsor a child on your own ( 35 euros )

Share a sponsorship with a friend (18 euros each)

There will also be optional extra options for sponsors to consider:

1. A new backpack for your child for the school year

2. A personalised birthday gift – you may order this online from a supplied list of shops to be delivered to your child OR you may send some money and we will shop on your behalf (with proof of purchase and delivery – of course!)

3. A Christmas present for your child; Again, pre-ordered by you or in value for us to purchase on your behalf.
